Invasive treatments come with a lot of pre and post treatment anxiety for the patient. Before the treatment you are anxious about the procedure, will it work for you, is it the right thing to do, will you suffer from the side effects, so on and so forth. Once the treatment is done, the only thing that makes you anxious is, ‘has it worked?’ , ‘was it worth the time, effort and money?’.
Similar is the case with a hair transplant procedure. Once the procedure is done, you anxiously wait for the time to pass so that you can see the promised effects of the treatment, there’s only one question that goes on in your mind, ‘when will the hair grow?’.
Hence, this blog is an answer to all your anxiety driven questions, of the effectiveness of the treatment, the downtime you require and the time within which you will see results of the treatment.
Hair loss is one of the most trickiest conditions which requires the identification of the root cause to understand what kind of solution would be most effective. It is important to understand that a hair transplant surgery is not a cure but a fix that treats just the hair loss and not the reason behind hair loss.
That said, it also important to understand that the effectiveness of a hair transplant procedure depends on the reason for loss of hair. But in many cases the transplanted hair will fall out within 2-3 weeks of the surgery, and you should start noticing new growth within a few months. Most people see 60% of new hair growth only after 6 to 9 months.
Depending on the area of baldness, you might require multiple sittings for the procedure to complete or you can be done with the procedure in a couple of hours.
The procedure comes with a lot of do’s and don’ts so that you see best results of the procedure, a few of them are listed below.
- Rest adequately and allow the bruising to subside.
- Sleep in a semi-upright position and elevate your head for three nights post-surgery.
- Don’t expose yourself to direct sunlight for a few weeks after the surgery.
- Don’t touch or fidget with the newly-grafted scalp, it might be itchy and sore, but do not rub, scratch or do anything that causes friction.
- Perspiration increases the risk of getting an infection to a great extent, do not engage in activities that cause excessive sweating.
- Don’t bend over, lean forward or blow your nose violently on the first week, there can be chances of bleeding.
Know that if you are losing hair for genetic reasons, a hair transplant surgery is a temporary solution to your problem because you will eventually lose hair from where the transplant was done initially. There are fair chances of needing a repetition of the transplant.
We walk you through your entire case and make you understand the reasons for the hair loss you are facing. After considering everything we help you choose the correct procedure and help you understand the pros and cons of it, so that you make an informed decision and know what to expect from the surgery.
